Defining uniqueness

How do you define or discover your uniqueness? If we are all unique individuals and have our own personal journey then what magic formula can ‘fit us all’?

There is no magic formula to becoming the best version of yourself. You do not need my permission to evolve into your highest self. You simply need your permission and self-love. Love yourself so much you dedicate time to your joys; learn to listen to your inner voice and take action to encourage it.

There are so many learning styles, goals, definitions of happiness and processes to create the future that is unique to each of us. By empowering ourselves to discover our personal uniqueness and encourage others to discover theirs, we define what being valued looks and feels like. We not only respect differences we embrace and encourage them.

The formula is unique for each of us, yet requires one common thread – – – Time…dedicated time. Acknowledge what completes you, what brings you joy, what burns inside of you and dedicated time to your journey; encourage your uniqueness.

What is your unique process to focus on your goals?

Why I set a reading goal this year

I have set a goal to read 26 books in 52 weeks. You can read more about it and join in here.

Why did I set this goal? Well, I have a few ongoing goals that I focus on all year. I typically set writing goals, health focused goals, etc. I have even set a simple ‘read more’ goal in the past. I read a lot of non-fiction books to learn about things such as Hygge, read someone’s inspiring journey, learn how to manage my time better, etc. As much as I love books and admire so many authors…I rarely dedicate time to reading fiction. So why set a reading goal now?

Besides the obvious of wanting to read more fiction, I wanted a goal that was realistic for me personally; 26 books of about 300 pages each in a year’s time is about 25 pages a day…I can do that! I also find reading relaxing and it fits into my self-care focus.

Reading actually reduces anxiety, relieves stress, and can easily calm my racing mind after a hectic day. There are actual studies that have proven the benefits of novel reading and it certainly makes me feel better! There is even Bibliotherapy – a therapeutic approach that uses literature to support positive mental wellbeing.

Reading is therapeutic to me and after reading several studies, I think most people could benefit from reading more. Whenever I read, it’s a tiny escape and even a distraction. To read a few pages a day allows me to unwind, decompress, relax and recharge. So this is more than a simple read more goal for me, it’s a way to focus on my wellbeing and take care of myself!

I’d love to hear why others read…or why not? Please share your current read in the comments or email me. Thank you for reading and being a part of my journey!

2019 reading

Some of my books that will soon be read !

First of 26 reads this year

I have set a goal to read 26 books in 52 weeks. You can read more about it and join in here.

I have a shelf of books I have wanted to read, but haven’t yet. I will also be asking for reading suggestions and visiting my local library to pick up suggestions there as well!

My first read (in no particular order) is Love in the Time of Cholera by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. I bought this book about two years ago at a book store that was going out of business and the store owner pointed out that she purchased it for the shop because it was the book that the main character chased after in the movie Serendipity…I loved that movie and the book was priced so reasonably how could I NOT buy it!?

I’m looking forward to reading it and posting my progress. I’ll post more on Instagram as well. If you’d like to join in the discussion please connect with me on Instagram and use #26reads52weeks. I can’t wait to see what everyone will be reading!

Also, I’m excited to announce that my goal focused journal is now complete & available in small batch printing!!! My excitement about seeing a completed goal in print form is beyond measure and my gratitude to all of those encouraging me and supporting me extends to all visiting my sites!

Goals are not trends

Goals are personal action plans that celebrate your uniqueness! Goals may seem similar to others, but the reason you set your particular goal is unique to you.

The reason why you want to accomplish a goal is the force behind accomplishment tailored specifically to you.

Dedicate time to discovering why you want to accomplish a certain goal and the action plan will develop. You will set steps in motion to achieve your goal or develop your positive habits.

I’d love to hear what goal you are working on! Share below or email me successencourager@gmail.com

Today my journal planner is 40% OFF! Find more about it here.

The unique calendar journal (planner) will help guide you on your daily journey during this ‘year in the life of…’ YOU.

Keep goaling!

Why do you train?

I’m not a runner, I’ve never trained for a marathon, but I have trained for presentations, content for short stories, job interviews, and learning new skills. Although, it’s all different forms of training a decision to accomplish a goal has to still be made.  Every runner in a marathon makes the same decision to train and run the best they can. The reason behind that decision varies though.  The ‘why’ behind the decision to train for a marathon is similar to the why behind any decision to focus on a goal.

Your ‘why’ is your motivation.

Maybe you want to travel, advance in your career, change careers, move out of state (or the country), spend more time with your family…whatever your ‘why’ is…use that to motivate your action behind focusing on your goal.

A goal to write a book, finish a degree, learn a new program at work, get healthier or accomplish something that will bring you pure joy deserves as much focus and training as one does for an intense marathon.

Once you define the goal you want to focus on you can start to train.

  • Dedicate time to it daily
  • Celebrate accomplishments
  • Accept the fact that you deserve to run your race your own unique way (for your unique reason why)
  • Even when it seems tough, keep going
  • Remind yourself of your ‘why’
  • Remember setbacks are not the same as quitting
  • Keep going, keep training, keep accomplishing

So… how do you train…why are you training?
